Doris Coleman was born June 10, 1934, in Mt. Herman, OK., to Lester and Trula (Stout) Shipman. She passed away Dec. 6, 2021, at her home.

She married Homer L. Coleman on May 31, 1953. They were true soulmates and best friends, whether they were building a shop, planting a garden, working on an antique car or road-tripping across the country, they were companions in all things, together to the end.

Doris began her teaching career at Glover School, then moved to Eagletown. She taught for thirty-three years. She obtained her master's degree in Special Education in 1982.

Doris loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to fish, and usually caught the most fish. She loved to work in her yard, shrub beds and always had a garden. She loved to play board and card games, and at one time was an active member of a bridge club. She had a broad knowledge of trees, flowers and birds, and was an avid coin collector and member of the Paris Coin Club. She and Homer traveled to 49 states, Canada and Mexico. She and Homer also traveled the entire Route 66. She was always by Homer's side as they rebuilt a lot of cars and her Father's International Truck. These vehicles were driven to car shows and all across the United States.

She is preceded in death by her parents; inlaws, John T Coleman and Octavia Coleman Willis; son, Jimmy Coleman and sister, Genieve Shipman.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Homer L. Coleman; children, Gwen Willingham and husband Bruce of Idabel, and Jerry and wife Rita Coleman of Broken Bow; siblings, Barbara Francis of Paris, Texas, and Lu Ellen Pierce Weatherford, Texas; brother and sister in laws, James Coleman and Wilburn and wife Geneva Coleman, all of Richland, Wash., Monroe Coleman and Jerrel Coleman, both of Broken Bow, Esta Callaham of Broken Bow, Lanell Absher-Scirratt and husband Marty, and Veleta and husband Don Ehrlich of Tulsa; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at the First Assembly of God Church, Broken Bow, with Pastor Jimmy Jeter officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Cemetery.
