HUGH ALLEN IS TAKEN BY DEATH
WELL KNOWN RESIDENT OF HAGERSTOWN IS SUMMONED SATURDAY
HAGERSTOWN, IND. JAN 8--Hugh Allen, age 84 years, veteran of the Civil war and for many years a director in Hagerstown banks, died at his home in South Washington street this evening at 6:30 following an illness due to heart disease and general debility.

Mr. Allen was a director of the Hagerstown Union Trust company and had also served as a director of the old First National and also the bank that existed prior to that. When the Hagerstown fair was one of Wayne county's most famous events Mr. Allen served as one of the directors of the board.

He is survived by his widow and one son, Mark Allen, of Columbus, O., and two grandsons, Ross and Reid Allen.

Mr. Allen served through all four years of the Civil war.

Funeral arrangements will not be completed until the son arrives from Columbus.
