Aunt Rita
Rose Blackshear was born August 18, 1956, to the late Samuel Blackshear and Ruby Mae Gilchrist Blackshear in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Rose, affectionately known as Rita by family and friends graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School with the class of 1975. Upon graduating, Rose began her career at Tropicana Products. During this time, she developed the desire to be a help to others within the medical field. Rose, following this desire, began her journey as a Certified Nursing Assistant Supervisor for The American Red Cross where she took pride in being able to train and mentor aspiring Assistants under her guidance.
Roses' legacy to family and friends includes advocacy for others and helping countless individuals when needed. Rose was well known within the community for having an "open door" to anyone in need of a place to rest, a listening ear, and a good meal. She had an engaging personality, which drew many friends, a great sense of humor, and never-ending stories. She was a joy to be with.
Rose was a member of House of God #1 under the leadership of Elder Theresa Gardner-Lewis.
On Saturday, November 27, 2021, In accordance with the divine will of our Heavenly Father, Rose answered the Master's call. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Blackshear and Ruby Gilchrist-Blackshear, daughters, Ruby Blackshear and Bridgett Young, brothers, Ronald Blackshear, Roderick Blackshear, and Robert Blackshear, sister, Betty Alexander, granddaughter, Diymira Avriett. grandfather: Clarence Gilchrist, Sr., grandmother, Rosa Lee Moore, uncles, Clarence Gilchrist, Jr., Jesse Owens, Charlie Blackshear, and Bobby Zeigler, aunts, Lenna Gilchrist, Letha Mae Andrews, Annie Ruth Merrick, Dorothy Blackshear, and Verna Gilchrist, cousins, Jeffery Blackshear and Julia Blackshear.
Those left to cherish her loving memories, sons; Donnie Ray Avriett, Jr and Randy Collins, daughters, Kimberlyn Mills, Alicia (Brian) Mills, LaDonna (James) Gardner and December Young, grandchildren, Tekesia, Edquesia, Jasmine, James Jr., Janiah, Javian, Ja'Myah, A'Mari, Gersiyah, Kenneth, Stephen, Stacey Jr., Tyrone Jr., Tylicia, Alexis, Zharnay, Donnie III, Dontae, Davian, D'Nilah, Donnie IV, Anastasia, Dionnie, Donnie V, and Deliyana, nieces: Clesha Green, Latrecia Blackshear, Serterria (Kirk) White, and Kenya (John) May, nephews, Brian (Tangle) Alexander, William (Vernita) Newberry, Joseph Burns, and Roderick Blackshear, best-friends: Pat Power, Vickie Sands, Kathy Benjamin, and Eleanor Ruffin. God-sister: Carla Hatcher. A host of other relatives and friends will miss her dearly.
