CHARLES F. EDMAN, SR., 80, was born in Memphis on February 27, 1927 to the late Eugene and Annie Edman and went home to be with the Lord and his family after an extended illness on Sunday, December 16, 2007. Mr. Edman had lived in Memphis and was currently residing in Covington. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved bowling, golf and all sports. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a generous spirit. Mr. Edman was a retired lineman with Memphis Light Gas and Water after 28½ years of service. He was also retired from the United States Navy and Naval Reserves, where he received the American Theatre Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Medal (Berlin Air Lift Device), Air Medal. He was a member of Brighton Baptist Church and was a graduate of Humes High School. Mr. Edman was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Anne Tanner Edman, his brothers, Eugene and Neal Edman and is survived by his son, Charles F. (Lisa) Edman, Jr. of Shelbyville, TN; daughter, Sandra Edman (Joe) Wilson of Goodlettsville, TN; two grandchildren, Dave and Jonathan Dickerson; one nephew and one niece. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, and from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, both at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home of Millington, with the interment to follow in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery of Millington with U.S. Navy military honors.
