Thomas I. "Tom" Morgan, 71, of Altoona died late Sunday evening, November 28, 2021, at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness.

He was born on December 27, 1949, in Altoona, a son of Geraldine V. (Baum) Morgan and the late Richard I. "Dick" Morgan. He was twice married, first to Dorothy Lorraine "Lori" Morgan on July 29, 1969. She preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2002. He then married Susan L. Dunn on Oct. 2, 2004.

Mr. Morgan was a member of Altoona First Church of the Brethren, where he also served as a Deacon. Tom was a 1969 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a radarman from May 26, 1969, to December 15, 1970.

He retired as a machinist from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 2001 following 32 years' service. Following his retirement, Tom owned his own company, Morgan Pilot Car Service where he was still working until just before his passing.

Tom was a former member of the Mill Run Fire Company and then transferred to the Greenwood Fire Company. He was the Blair County Fire School coordinator, a member of the Blair County Fire Police, secretary of the Central District Volunteer Firemen's Association, and a member of the Red Knights, Chapter #39 motorcycle group.

He was a member of Hiram Lodge #616, Free and Accepted Masons; a 33rd degree member of the Valley of Altoona, Scottish Rite bodies; a member of Jaffa Shrine where he was a member, past president and past secretary of the Motor Corps and a member of the Legion of Honor; a Potentate's Aide; and a member of the Roadrunners and the Jaffa Campers.

Tom was a life member of both the Heidelberg and Bavarian Aide Society; and was a social member of the Newburg Fire Department and Caesar Battisti Clubs. For 28 years, he served as treasurer for the Blair County Game, Fish and Forestry Association and was a dedicated member of the Tuckahoe Valley Militia.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. with a Firemen's service to follow, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at Altoona First Church of the Brethren where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Pepper officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of Tom's interests and organizations mentioned above.
