Buried with her first husband, Enrico (Henry) Costanza.

Maria was born on 6 October 1882 to Anna Emilia Silva and Jose da Silva or Ferreira. (See notes at bottom.*) Her City of Boston birth record indicates that her father's name is Joseph F Ferreira, but her baptismal record under St. John the Baptist's church lists her father as unknown. Her first marriage record is ultimately corrected to name her father as a Jose da Silva which coincides with her second marriage record to Carmine Mocca.

Her first husband, Enrico (Henry) Costanza died on 18 December 1925 from Tuberculosis and she remarried (Carmine Moccia) on 7 February 1932, only to lose her second spouse in about 1941. She married another Carmine (Battaglia) in 1942. This last spouse died in 1958 and Maria (anglicized to Mary) lived until she was 98 years old.

Her grandchildren fondly remember her as "Grandma Battaglia," and will tell you, among other things, how tiny in stature she was.

*Anna and Maria lived at 5 Moon Street (Center), Boston, MA at the time of Maria's birth in 1882. Another family with the last name Ferreira lived in the same building in the rear unit, however there is no clear indication that these families are related. If you have additional information on these individuals, please reach out to the grave manager, Maria's great granddaughter.
