GARDEN VALLEY, ID - Dale Martin Jones, age 89, a long-time resident of Garden Valley, Idaho, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, in Carson City, Nevada.
He was born October 5, 1932, in Nampa, Idaho to Jean Paul Jones and Hazel Blanche Smalley Jones. Following his graduation from Nampa High School in May 1950, he enlisted in the Navy in September of the same year. He served on the USS Badoeng Strait and USS Bairoko as an Electronics Technician. After his discharge from the Navy in September he married Lois Briggs, on October 9, 1953.
After working for United Airlines, he applied for a position as an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA. This career took him from Boise, to Arizona, Alaska, Wake Island, Washington, and Saudi Arabia, ending his career back in Boise where it all began. With little construction training or experience, he built four homes for the family. When he encountered something beyond his knowledge, he would go to the library and figure it out. His interest in airplanes spanned his entire adult life, including building an RV-4 kit plane in the basement of their Nampa home.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a number of callings, frequently as the Ward Clerk. He and his sweetheart, Lois, were missionaries in the Anchorage Alaska Mission from 1986-1988. Following the death of Lois from cancer, he married Rayola Barker in January, 2008.

Dale is survived by his sister, Della Mae (Kenneth) Bowman; three daughters, Terry (Edward) Evans of Rupert, Idaho; Jeanne (Brad) Peterson of Wenatchee, Washington; and Amy (Michael) Jensen of Carson City, Nevada; 11 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents; two brothers, Jean Paul Jones and Walter Robert Jones; wife, Rayola; and one grandchild.

A private graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley, Idaho.
