Rodney O. Chapman, born August 10, 1935 returned to his Father in Heaven on November 23, 2021. Rod was born in Garfield, Utah to Isaac Earl and Althea Orr Chapman. He grew up in Magna, Utah, attended the local schools and was a graduate of Cyprus High School Class of 1952. Upon graduation, Rod joined the Army branch of the military and was assigned to Fort Benning Georgia. After a short time in Georgia, Rod returned to Utah to marry his high school sweetheart, Noreen Nielsen. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple and lived as husband and wife for 58 years until Noreen's passing in 2012. Together they raised four children, served an LDS service mission in Sitka, Alaska, and another managing the LDS Employment office in West Jordan, Utah. They grabbed opportunities for travel as their children lived in various parts of the world. Rod's career was in banking, working for First Security Bank for 40 years. In his time away from the bank, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, golfing with his buddies, and was an avid reader of western novels. He wrote several histories including family histories and the history of Magna, Utah. Rod served as President of the Lion's Club, and had several church callings. He is survived by two sons, Jeffery (Diane), Brad (Denalee), and two daughters Elizabeth (Jeff) Schroeder and Kathy (Heath) Bateman, fourteen grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Rod's love of nature was passed down to his children and grandchildren who value the lessons he taught while spending Saturdays with them in the wild. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Noreen, parents and four siblings. A graveside service will be held December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Spanish Fork Cemetery in Spanish Fork, Utah. Services will be streamed live and can be viewed on his obituary at www.jenkins-soffe.com
