Gene Raymond Griffith, Sr. of Danville, Virginia, passed away on November 25, 2021, at the age of 87.
He was born on November 10, 1934, to the late Lois Worsham Griffith and the late Jessie Raymond Griffith in Danville, Virginia.
Gene served as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the US Marine Corps for 30 years before his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons Thomas J. Griffith and Darrell J. Griffith; his sisters Patsy G. Baker and Margie G. Dishman; and his brothers William "Bill" Griffith and Lawrence "Smokey" Griffith.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Lorraine Anderson Griffith, his daughter Kathy G. Cash (Howard); his sons Gene R. Griffith, Jr. (Ang) of Lorena, Texas, and Preston Griffith of Bradenton, Florida; his sisters Elaine G. Lea of Danville, Virginia, and Rebecca G. Lustig of St. Augustine, Florida; his brother Donnie Griffith (Kathy) of Eagle River, Alaska; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his special sister-in-law Eunice Griffith of Chesterfield, Virginia; and his special best friend Eddie Lee Scott of Danville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Norris Funeral Services' West End Chapel with Pastor Hershel Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Norris West End Chapel. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave. Danville is serving the Giffith family.
