Sharon Ruth Campbell, 70, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, in Des Moines, and Daryl Lewis Campbell, 69, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, in Greenfield. They lived at Fontanelle.

Sharon Ruth (Jantz) Campbell, daughter of Olan Benjamin Jantz and Avis Louise (Hawley) Jantz, was born Feb. 16, 1951, in Jefferson. Sharon grew up on a farm outside of Jefferson. She enjoyed traveling to visit her grandparents, spending time with neighbors when parents congregated for meals and games, bus rides to and from school with friends and having piglets in the house to warm up after being born on a cold day.

Sharon graduated from Jefferson Community High School in 1969 where she played clarinet in band, took business classes and was a good student. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile. Classmates recently enjoyed time with Sharon at the 50th reunion of the "Class of '69." Sharon graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. It was during this time that she married her sweetheart, Daryl Campbell in 1971. Sharon spent her life serving others through her career in nursing. She was awarded the "100 Best Nurses of Iowa for 2016." She had just retired in February 2020.

They had four children: Jennifer Rae, James Lewis, Rebecca Lynn and Wesley Adam. Daryl and Sharon celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.

During those years there were innumerable celebrations, milestones, challenges and victories. They spent their lives loving and caring for their children. Even as adults, their children often called for advice and wisdom. As grandchildren were born, love showed in their eyes as they held them, played with them, encouraged them and watched them grow. They spent endless hours traveling to watch grandchildren's activities. They wanted to be present as much as they could.

Because of their love for their family, they will be greatly missed by daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Woodruff of Jefferson; son, James Campbell of Fontanelle; daughter, Rebecca (Rick) Killion of Jefferson; son, Wesley Adam (Jackie) Campbell of Orient; nine grandchildren: Ethan, Evan and Logan Woodruff; Nickolas and Lauryn Killion; and Emily, Eli, Amber and Kelly Campbell; Sharon's brother, Warren and his wife Sue; Daryl's sisters, Julia Campbell, Janet (Dennis) Elings; nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.

A joint funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. Lunch will follow with burial at 3:00 in Jefferson Cemetery; Jefferson, Iowa. Pastors Steven Broers and Tom Hinote will officiate the service. Family will be present Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle from 3:00-5:00.
