The following obituary appeared in "The Punxsutawney Spirit" (Punxsutawney, PA) on Tuesday, November 23, 2021:

Shirley Marie Lewis, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Dec. 5, 1945, to Frederick and Dorothy (Ryan) Wolfe in Pittsburgh. On Dec. 29, 1962, she married Philip L. "Louie" Lewis, who passed away July 24, 2020; they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

By profession, Shirley worked at the Comet Market as a baker for many years and retired as a caregiver, having worked at both Helpmates Inc. and Senior Assist Services Inc.

She was the backbone of her family. She cherished spending time with her family and loved when everyone could get together. She had a sense of humor that was unmatched. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, scratching lottery tickets, playing the Nintendo (yes - she was that awesome), going to lunch with the girls and making goodies for the staff members at the dialysis clinic. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by everyone.

She is survived by three sons and a daughter, William E. "Willie" Lewis, Bellevue, Washington, Andrew B. Lewis Sr., and wife Ashley, Punxsutawney, Debra S. "Debi" Fox and husband William "Bill," Punxsutawney, and John M. Lewis and fiancée Jada Shields, Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren, Jackelyn "Jackie" Lewis and fiancée Mike Duttry, Andrew B. Lewis Jr. and wife Kenesha, Tanner Lewis and wife Gabrielle "Gabby," Ashley Hain and husband Johninthin "Johnny," Aaron James "AJ" Carey, Tyler Maruca, Kasey Prescott and fiancée Thomas Adamo, and Ayden Shields; 10 great-grandchildren, Makenzie Hain, Aleaha Lewis, Benson Lewis, Oliver Lewis, Cammeron Rebosky, Madison and Wyatt Duttry, Angel, Thomas, Jr. and Mateo Adamo; three brothers, John Ryan, Michigan, Frederick Wolfe Jr., Ohio, and Robert Wolfe and wife Donna, Punxsutawney; and two sisters, Mary Lou Torrell and husband Larry, Punxsutawney, and Suzanne Mark and husband Ebbie, Punxsutawney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Dorothy (Ryan) Wolfe; her husband, Philip L. "Louie" Lewis; twin daughters, Janet Suzanne Lewis and Janice Marie Lewis; her brother and sister-in-law Charles (Betty) Wolfe; an infant brother; and sister-in-law Carolyn Wolfe.

Friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Interment will follow at Pearce Cemetery, Rossiter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dialysis Clinic Inc., 158 Elmwood Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15767, or the American Kidney Fund, www.kidneyfund.org.

The family is also planning a celebration of life party at a later date.
