She was born on February 20, 1928, to the late Bertha Brown Cassada and the late Toy Acree Cassada in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
She was married on December 27, 1944, to the love of her life, Julian Stowe, with whom she spent nearly 70 years before he passed away on November 18, 2014.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Cassada; her sisters Ruth Richardson, Kathryn Shelton, Lillie Mae Montgomery, Ann Richardson, and Lucille Jodan; and son-in-law Paul Shelton.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Cynthia Shelton of Danville, Virginia; her brother Bob Cassada of Danville, Virginia; grandchildren Angela Brooks (Kelly) of Glen Allen, Virginia, and Heather Wilburn of Floyd, Virginia; the joy of her life, her great-grandson Adam Paul Brooks who lovingly called her "Greatest Granny," and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Norris Funeral Services' Mt. Hermon Chapel with Pastor Mike Wiles officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family request that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Associating of Danville and Pittsylvania County (208 Craighead St, Suite 104, Danville, Virginia, 24541).
