Harry M. Hill, 83, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at his residence in Abilene.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Frederick Nawarskas officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Harry was born February 15, 1922 to Maxie Juanita {Fuller} and John O. Hill in Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in January, 1941. During WWII, Harry flew over 35 missions over enemy territory and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in October, 1944. He married Rosie Albracht. Harry continued to serve his country until his retirement in 1965. He began a second career with the Abilene Reporter News in the Advertising Department for 17 years.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Hill; and a sister, Joan Green.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Hill, of Abilene; three sons, Jeffery Hill of Tampa, Florida, John Hill of Grapevine, Texas, Michael Hill of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Marilyn Downen and husband, Perry, of Cummin, Georgia, Susan Byrd and husband, Bobby, of Abilene; two brothers, Don C. Hill and James Hill, both of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren, Aaron and Sarah Byrd, Christopher and Erin Hill, Steven Hill, and Abbey Hill.
