He was born July 22, 1926, in Springfield, the son of William and Anna Boesdorfer Kunz.
He married Lillian M. Weyant in 1948.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Arthur, Louis and Ed.
Mr. Kunz was a machinist for Pillsbury Mills for 38 years until retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the United States Auto Club and Midwest Auto Racing Association.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian M. of Springfield; one daughter, Karen Sue Kunz of Springfield; three sons, Russell E. "Rusty" Jr. and Keith Alan, both of Springfield, and Charles F. of Petersburg; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Florence) Galassi of Springfield and Mrs. Maxine Richards of Pleasant Plains; two brothers, William and LeRoy, both of Springfield; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Louis Kunz and the Rev. Ronald Simpson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
