Mrs. Carlson, one of the best known and most beloved citizens of Boone, passed away at the Eleanor Moore hospital at noon Monday, after undergoing a severe operation for gall stones. While it was known that she was in a critical condition, yet it was not thought fatal, and the news of her death was a sudden shock to her family and friends. She had only been ill about two months. Marie Anderson was born in Hallans county, Sweden, August 1st, 1841, and was in her sixty fifth year at the time of her death. She grew to young womanhood in her native land and was there united in marriage to Mr. Carl Carlson, March 27th, 1868. About a year later they came to America and settled in Boone, where they have since resided. Most of the time Mr. Carlson has been engaged in the milling business. To them were born seven children, four of whom, Charles R., John A., Matilda and Minnie Mabel, have preceded the mother in death, Elvira Matilda, wife of John S. Doud, of Denver, Joel E., teller of the First National Bank of this city, Eda Wilhelmina of Boone, with the father, Carl Carlson, survive to mourn the death of a loving, Christian wife and mother. The funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Swedish Mission church, of which she was a devoted member, conducted by the pastor, rev. Wickstrom, in Swedish and Professor Princell, of Chicago, in English. The funeral was largely attended by friends and neighbors of the deceased, a number being present from Des Moines. The remains were laid to rest in Linwood cemetery.
