Louis Holzinger
Dies on May 3rd Services Held Tuesday At Lutheran Church
WYOMING—Louis F. Holzinger, 60, died on Saturday, May 3, at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an operation.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion American Lutheran, church in Wyoming. Rev. Robert R. Ahrens officiated. Mrs. Marvin Lacock was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Lafayette Bahnsen, organist. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery.
Pallbearers Named
Pallbearers were: John E. Holub, Ralph Orth, Gordon Hall, Malvin Martensen, Martin Petersen, Everett Jurgensen.
Life Outlined
Louis Fred Holzinger, son of Leonard and Rose Guloehrlein Holzinger, was born August. 24, 1897 in Germany. He came to Wyoming with his parents at the age of five. After living there for about one year, the family went to Paris, Mo., where they remained for 13 years: They returned to this community in 1917, and farmed near Wyoming. On November 27, 1918, he was united in marriage to Viola Huggans, in a ceremony performed by the Rev. G. E. Melchert. To this union two children were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Holzinger farmed in Jones County near Oxford Junction and Olin until 1949 when they moved to Wyoming. He had been janitor of the local bank since then.
Mr. Holzinger served on the church council and on the building committee of the Zion American Lutheran church. He was a member of the Brotherhood for some years, and served as janitor of the church at different times during the past nine years.
He had been baptized in Germany, and was confirmed in the first English class at Zion American Lutheran church in 1918 by the Rev. G. E. Melchert. He had been a member of the congregation ever since that time.
Survivors Named
Survivors include his wife, and their two children, Roy, Clarence; and Mrs. John Colony, North Liberty; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude TImmer, Rockford, III., other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
