Thomas Edward Lyons, of Cumberland, MD, departed this earthly life for a much happier one on Monday, November 15, 2021, at his home at the age of 75.

Born July 14, 1946, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Lyons was the son of the late Edward Thomas Lyons and Rita Ursula (Mellott) Lyons. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Edward R. and Genevieve (Carter) Lyons; his maternal grandparents: Joseph O. and Sarah Ann (Clay) Mellott; and his son: David Shriver.

Tom retired from the Naval Reserves in 1992 completing twenty-nine and a half years of service, and retired from the United States Postal Service in 2001 having completed 35 years of service. He graduated LaSalle High School, Class of 1964, and was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Saint Mary's Catholic Church. He was a life-member of the following: the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #172; the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.); the National Active and Retired Federal Employees; and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch #638. Tom was a Third-Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #586, and on the Board of Directors for the Al-Gar Federal Credit Union. He volunteered at the Lions Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation as a Eucharistic Minister and helped make Apple Butter each year at Davis Memorial Church.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 36 years: Barbara Jean (Davidson) Lyons; and his children: Brian Lyons and wife, Joelle, and their son, Jackson, the apple of "Pop's" eye; and Rebecca (Lyons) Dandy and husband, David; He also leaves behind his brother: Terrance Lyons and wife, Cate; his brother-in-law: John Davidson and wife, Janet; and his special cat, Zeus.

At Tom's requests, he will be cremated. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 300 East Oldtown Road, Cumberland, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., with Father Greg Brown, O.F.M. Cap., as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Jude Tribute Program, Post Office Box #100, Dept. #142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
