Bruce Swanson, age 93, a longtime resident of McCook, passed away at the Knolls Senior Living Community in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Inurnment in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.

Bruce was the son of Swantie E. and Esther Swanson. Born at his Grandmother Swanson's house in McCook. He attended rural and McCook schools until graduating in 1945 at the age of 16.

On October 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Beverlee J. Meyers. They made their home on a farm north of McCook until his retirement in 1992.

Bruce was on the District 41 School Board when that school was first consolidated and built on Highway 83. He was a member of McCook Memorial United Methodist Church; his grandfather and uncle helped build the church.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Beverlee; his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Don Poore; sister-in-law, Marilyn Meyers; and his in-laws, Glenn and Nellie Meyers.

Survivors include their four children and their spouses; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and friends.
