Section: Obituaries

Mae Louise Thompson, age 91, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Christian Health Care Center.

She will be remembered for her friendly and outgoing personality, love for decaf coffee and going on walks, as well as her dedication to the Trailblazers Ministry at North County Christ the King Church.

Mae was born on June 2, 1930 in Cheney, Washington to Lloyd and Janita Casteel as the second of four children. During WWII, her family moved to Vancouver, WA and made many lifelong connections there. She graduated in 1948 from North Central High School in Spokane, as the first in her family.

She later moved to San Jose, California with her late husband Glen Beeson in the 1960's and was blessed with her son. She found great joy in operating a licensed daycare in her home until her son was in school full time, going on to a wonderful career as the secretary at Los Paseos Elementary School in San Jose.

Retiring in 1985, Mae moved back to Vancouver, Washington after marrying Randol Thompson. They were fond of crafting and participating in holiday bazaars. After the passing of her parents in early 1997, she and Ran moved to Lynden, Washington to be closer to their grandchildren.

Getting to know their new community, they volunteered with the founding of North County CTK, developing into leadership within the senior ministry, Trailblazers. They valued the togetherness of activities and meals at the Lynden Senior Center. She also cherished her time at the Adult Day Health Center. In recent years Mae enjoyed being a resident and a part of the community at Lynden Manor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Janita Casteel, her brother Melvin and her sister Doris Babcock, her husband Glen Beeson in 1982, and her husband Randol Thompson in 2014.

Mae will be laid to rest with her husband Ran and parents at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sleep is Gods' way of saying, "Trust me." Trust him today. He will never let you down, whether you are awake or asleep. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, o Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
