Peter McIntyre was an early settler of the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. He arrived in the colony in 1825 on board the ship "Hugh Crawford" along with staff, livestock and machinery to establish the estate of 'Segenhoe' for Thomas Potter McQueen. Peter also managed his own property near Segenhoe, called 'Blairmore'. Soon to follow were 'Pitnacree' at East Maitland and many other properties in New England which he established at or near Wellingrove, Inverell and Glen Innes. Peter was renowned for breeding prize winning horses, sheep and cattle on extensive runs. He had one daughter named Ann (sometimes Agnes) born in Scotland. She married Thomas Clark with whom she migrated to Australia and settled in West Maitland at Horseshoe Bend close to where Peter had lived at Pitnacree.
