James Kenneth "Ken" Cothran, Sr., 88, husband of Joan Crawford Cothran, with whom they had recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary on November 7, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021.
Born in Belton, he was a son of the late Thomas Arabian Cothran, Sr. and Mary Blanche Hendrix Cothran. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean war and went on to retire from Southern Bell. Mr. Cothran was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by children, James Kenneth Cothran, Jr. of Clemson, John Mark Cothran (Nancy) of Belton, Sherri Cothran Bishop (Kevin) of Pickens, and Robert Daniel Cothran of Spartanburg. Mr. Cothran had nine grandchildren, and is survived by, Samuel Cothran (Melissa), Jessica Cothran Sullivan (Alex), Anna Bishop, Sara Bishop, Zachary Bishop, Will Cothran, Olivia Cothran, and Alex Cothran. He was predeceased by his grandson, Mark Cothran. Mr. Cothran is further survived by his siblings, Jane Cothran Kelly of Pelzer, Linda Cothran Coker of Pelzer, Bill Cothran of Belton, Ricky Cothran of Pelzer, Glen Cothran of Belton, and Joyce Cothran Coker of Pelzer.
He was predeceased by sisters, JoAnn Cothran Davenport, and Mary Cothran Southern; and brother, Tommy Cothran, Jr.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church cemetery.
