Christina Marie "Chris" Travis, 55, of Streator passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Visitation will be from 4 PM until 6 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
She was born April 30, 1966 in Lakeland, Florida, a daughter of Douglas and Elizabeth (Benner) Winn. She married George Travis on July 30, 1994 at St. Stephen's Church in Streator.
She is survived by her husband: George Travis of Streator; a son: Zephan (Brittany) Winn of Diamond; her mother: Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Winn of Streator; grandchildren: Avitt, Sawyer and Ellise Winn; sisters: Kathy Jo (Brett) Spitznagel of Streator; Deanne (Grant) Vicic of Streator and Carey (Bob) Burns of LaSalle; brothers: Raymond (Jennifer) Winn of Flacon, Colorado and Jeffrey (Patrick Wessels) Winn of Cathedral, California; nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father: Douglas Winn on March 12, 2012 and a brother: Douglas in infancy.
She attended Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1984. She later attended IVCC and Beauty School before earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ashford University. She taught early elementary education at Head Start for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the 4-H Pacesetters through the years.
Chris was a breast cancer survivor for many years and was active with the Susan G. Komen Walk for Breast Cancer. She walked for many years with her team "Chris' Kittens without Mittens".
