Ruby Killen Sturgill Simmons, age 88 of King, died Thursday, November 4, 2021, at her home.
Mrs. Simmons was born January 26, 1933, in Ashe County to the late Romey and Flora Mae Milam Killen.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sons, Danny and Johnny Sturgill, daughter, Deborah Lynn Veler, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by, her husband, Wade Simmons; one son, Rick Sturgill, and wife Dayna of Warrensville; three sisters, Louise Moser of Princeton, Jean Sawyer of King, and Jewell of Mt. City. 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 8, 2021, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. John White, Rev. Lloyd Day and speaker, Jerry Beason. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Attention- Ashe County, 7027 Albert Pick Rd., Suite 104, Greensboro, NC 27409.
