FEDERALSBURG — Anita Richardson, 90, of Federalsburg, MD, passed away early Monday morning, October 24, 2016 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Federalsburg on Nov. 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Reuben D. and Marie Elizabeth Magers Segars. She attended Federalsburg Elementary School and graduated Federalsburg High School Class of 1942. Furthering her education, she graduated Wesley Junior College in Dover, DE, class of 1944. She married William Ralph Richardson Jr. on April 25, 1954 and they just celebrated 62 years of marriage.

She returned to Federalsburg and began her career in banking with the County Trust Company on July 1, 1944. After 44 years she retired on Sept. 1, 1988, as Assistant Vice President and manager of the Federalsburg branch of MD National Bank.

She was a member and attended the First Church of God for 75 years where she held many offices in the church. Since 2001, she and her husband Bill attended the Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford, DE. They enjoyed traveling, not only in the U.S., but abroad as well. She served on the board of Hillcrest Cemetery for many years and was a member of the Federalsburg Historical Society.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by one sister, Evelyn Dunovan in 2004 and one brother Reuben Carlton Segars on June 7, 1999. In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 1 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home, Federalsburg, with Pastor Jonathan Sutton, Minister of the Atlantic Road Alliance Church officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Pallbearers will be Robert E. Donovan Jr., Paul Hastings Jr., George Edward Rider, Jay Rider, Hamilton Brake, Dale Kenton, William R. Richardson and Brian Richardson.
