After high school, she went to Indiana Wesleyan University where she received her master's degree in engineering. She worked at Otis Elevator as a quality engineer and retired after 33 years. She then went on to work at Aflac for another 12 years and retired from there. She enjoyed oil painting and making miniature houses in her spare time.
Chris is survived by her loving son, Daryl Baker of Bedford; nephews who were also her caretakers, Gregory (Gale) Squires, Jr. and Randall Rasner; other nieces and nephews, Carrie Smith, Mitch (Theresa) Horrell, Michael (Vicki) Horrell, Sarah (Craig) Hancock, Marsha (Robert) Day, Jeff (Mona) Williams, Gregory (Pauline) Williams, Denise (Terry) Bottom, Nancy (Mike) Brock, and Matthew Woodruff; great-niece and -nephews, Ashlynn (Cody Swinefurth) Squires, Erik Roberson, Joseph (Payton) Champion and Jeffrey Arthur as well as several other cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank Baker, Jr. and Fenton Denny Girton and a brother, Gregory Squires, Sr.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA through the funeral home.
