Mariano Villa y Valdez was born on 25 March 1809 at Mission San Buenaventura to Vicente Ferrer Villa ("cabo de esta escolta") and Maria Rita Quiteria Valdez. He was baptized there on the same day. He married Maria Antonia Alvarez on 8 July 1834 at Mission San Gabriel. Mariano died in Los Angeles County and was buried on 4 October 1875 at Old Calvary Cemetery.
