George Bernard Arnold, 68, a retired Senior Research Biochemist from Gillette Research Institute died peacefully at his home on July 24, 2005, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Elizabeth of Montgomery Village, MD; devoted father of five children, Mary Beth Porter of Alexandria, VA, Brian Arnold of Southborough, MA, Karen Hallinan of Carlsbad, CA, Julie Rhine of Atlanta, GA and Christine Kenney of Arlington, VA; eight grandchildren; three sisters; a brother and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Montgomery Avenue (Rte 28 just off I-270, exit 6-A) Rockville, MD on Wednesday, July 27, from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 11701 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg, MD 20878 on Thursday, July 28, at 1 PM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20902.
