Francisco Amado Perez of Brownsville, passed away at his home on September 1st, 2021, with his family at his side.

Amado, as he was known to all, was a native of Cuba. He came to the United States with his family in 1968, where they ultimately settled in Brownsville. Amado owned and operated Rio Grande Fabric Store on Washington St. in the Market Square area for over 52 years. He was a downtown merchant staple.

Amado was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Amado was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Anin, his parents Luisa and Amado Perez, and a sister, Lile Perez.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Ana Luisa (Pablo) Martinez and Alina Maria Perez; the three grandchildren that were his pride and joy: Pablo F. Martinez III, M.D., Eduardo A. Martinez, RN, and Alina Maria Gonzalez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept, 7, 2021 from 4 to 9 pm with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.
