ANN BRANKSTONE GARRICK, a former Memphian, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the Hospice House in Spokane, WA after a long struggle with lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Garrick and her parents, Ruth and Robert Brankstone. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Dick and Emily Brankstone of Memphis, TN; a daughter and her husband, Candy Garrick and Bill Arver of Spokane, WA; a son and his wife Steve and Bev Garrick of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1943. Her YMCA career spanned 27 years and she was the Executive Director of YMCAs in El Paso, TX and Memphis, TN. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 10, at Opportunity Presbyterian Church where Ann served as Deacon. She will be buried with her husband at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX. The family sends their deepest, heartfelt thanks to the folks at Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 and Cancer Care Northwest, 12615 E. Mission Spokane Valley, WA 99216, for their warm, compassionate care of Ann. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either of these organizations.
