Emma Marie (Towie) Cobb was born on November 23, 1939 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Pete and Vannie Marie (Tennison) Towie. She was raised in Tahlequah on land allotted to her grandmother, who traveled here on the Trail Of Tears. One day while picking strawberries at Briggs, she took notice of a young man with dark hair and the bluest eyes. She told her siblings "that's the man I'm going to marry." The two finally met and were married on April 19, 1955.They were blessed with three children, Donna, Deborah and Leslie. Emma was the wife that rose each morning before dawn to prepare a hot meal for Leonard before he went to work and had a hot meal on the table when he returned home. She was the Mom that flew straight to Florida to care for Donna after surgery, the Mom who bought Debbie the 4th grade Princess Dress before the election results were known (she won) and surprised Les with the silent movie camera for high school graduation, a gift he longed for , for years. She chose to start a career and graduated from NSU in 1974 with a degree in Education (and later earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education) and accepted a teaching position at Skelly School, where she remained until her retirement in 1997. An avid traveler, she visited England, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii (more than once) as well as most of the continental United States. In her later years, there were many trips to Branson and to town when any of the family was going. She was a devout Christian, and was a faithful member of Revival Tabernacle Full Gospel Church from 1976 until her passing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a dyed in the wool OU Football fan. She was an amazing cook and you never left her house hungry. She was decisive, and when she wanted to travel somewhere or experience something, she did it! Emma did not believe in placing things in the "someday column" because as she would always say "someday may never come, go and do and experience today." She will; best be remembered for her unfailing devotion to Jesus, as a prayer warrior, a friend and confidante with a wicked sense of humor, a hands on, no nonsense worker, and the best pie maker around at Christmas. Her family had a pie each, whatever their favorite was.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Leonard, her son-in-law, Larry Skaggs, and her great granddaughter, Mackenzie Lynn Davis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donna Leith and husband Ray of Tahlequah, OK, daughter Deborah Skaggs of Tahlequah, and son Leslie Cobb of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves her granddaughter Leslie Dallis and husband Jesse, granddaughter Lindsey Dillard and husband Neal and grandson Josh Martin. Her great grandchildren include Emma Grace Dillard, Gavin Dillard, McKinleigh Dallis, Amanda Dallis, Raelynn Martin, Rosslyn Martin, and Alden Jones as well as a brother, Lincoln Towie, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
