Harris Medbery was born 9 February 1789 in Rhode Island. On 21 October 1810 in Glocester, Rhode Island he married Lydia Irons the daughter of Samuel and Huldah (Colwell) Irons. They were the parents of two sons (Nelson, Chester). Harris and Lydia had been married five years when she died at the age of 28 years. O 13 October 1816 he married secondly Betsy Hawkins the daughter of Nehemiah and Hannah (Winsor) Hawkins. They were the parents of two sons ( George, Andrew) and six daughters. The family of Harris Medbery came from Glocester, Rhode Island to settle in Norwich, New York between 1820 and 1830. Harris was a farmer, dairyman, and stock raiser. He also served in the State Militia, achieving the rank of Colonel. Harris Medbery died 31 October 1868 at the age of 79 years in Norwich, New York, having survived his wife by two years.
