Moravia, NY - On Friday evening, October 29, James P. Kirk (81) unexpectedly passed into the arms of Jesus and entered his heavenly home.

Jim was born to Paul and Alice (Webster) Kirk of Summerhill, NY on March 31, 1940. He grew up on the family farm with brothers, Karl and John, and sister Patricia. On August 13, 1960 he married his sweetheart, Carol (Wattles) Kirk, and they have celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Jim was a family man and a very hard worker. He took great pride in both. He not only farmed but was a long-distance trucker and established his business, Jim Kirk Trucking. He enjoyed many friends, singing bass in gospel quartets, and anything related to classic cars, John Deere tractors, or semi-tractor trailers. Recently he enjoyed a family outing while driving his newly-restored 1952 John Deere A tractor which had belonged to his Dad.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his cherished daughters, Sue (Lee) Drum of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Shari (Dan) Halladay of Locke, NY; his treasured grandchildren Heather (Gregory) Wood of Tully, NY, Derek (Nikki) Halladay of Auburn, NY, and Kierstyn Alexis Kirk Drum of NC; his precious great- grandchildren Tyler and Brady Wood, and Aiden and Layla Halladay; and his sister, Patricia (Bob) Brickel along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Karl and John, and twin grandchildren Courtney and Nathan Halladay.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Dresserville Bible Baptist Church, 6339 Crofoot Road, Moravia, NY 13118. Calling hours will be held 12:00 – 1:30pm with a service to honor Jim at 1:45pm. It is requested that masks be worn during calling hours. Family and friends are invited to gather after the service for light refreshments at the church. A private interment service will be held at the Groton Rural Cemetery immediately following.
