OBITUARY- The Daily Journal, Tupelo, MS, Jan. 12, 2000
GRENADA- Myrtle Boatner Aven, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the Grandview Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 17, 1914 in Calhoun County. She was a retired nurse and a member of Hebron Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Sid Aven.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with the Rev. Guy Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Big Creek.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Buck Aven of Grenada and John Allen Aven of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Julia Norman of Houston and Cora Mae Blaylock of Calhoun City; two brothers, J. B. Boatner of Memphis, TN and James Lee Boatner of Terry; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Aven, Jonathan Aven, Jason Aven, Roger Tassin, Josh Angle and Jerry Williams.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the building fund or the bus fund at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada.
