Laura Marie Coleman Horn
6 Sep 1959 – 3 Sep 2021

Shreveport - Mrs. Laura Marie Coleman Horn, 61, was born on September 6, 1959, and passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021, in Shreveport LA after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Shreveport. Officiating will be Rev. Matt Woollett of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Shreveport and assisted by Father Paul Martin, Retired. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery West, in Shreveport, LA.

Laura was a native of Gainesville, Florida and a resident of Shreveport of 58 years. The day after her anniversary of 27 years married to Brian, Laura ended her earthly struggle and fighting illness, and missed her next birthday by three days. After graduating from Centenary College with a degree in education, Laura taught school in New Orleans, then later in Bossier and Caddo parishes. From there, she pursued work in the pharmaceutical sales field and was quite the drug rep winning a few awards along the way for promoting products. Laura loved to laugh and enjoy times of celebration with family and friends around birthdays and holidays. Laura loved to give gifts to everyone and out gave all of us, not only in material things but patience, devotion, and unconditional love. Laura loved becoming Mimi, to Emmagayle and Charlotte Mae. She bubbled over with love for her two baby granddaughters and immediately began showering them with gifts and spending money for girl things. Laura inherited her mother's love of fine art and bragged all of the time about Mammy Coleman's watercolor artwork. When Julia Anne and John were young, she also captured a love for sewing, invested in fancy sewing machines and smocking equipment and away she went hand making clothes for them. The pride Laura showed for the clothes she made for her children was infectious, and glowed as she showed off the kids modeling all of the things she made by hand. As her role of parent and loving mother, Laura instilled in her children the values of a high self-esteem, seek out and give to those in need, and do right by others. Laura will be missed by many family and friends as she left a lasting impression of kindness and joy with everyone she knew.

Laura was preceded in death her parents, Dr. John G. Coleman and Alverna M. Coleman, and son-in-law Ryan Burns.

She is survived by Brian Horn, her loving and devoted protector, guardian, and care giving husband of twenty-seven years. Daughter, Julia Anne Horn Burns, and stepdaughter, Regan Horn Bashara and husband Justin; son, John Coleman Windham Horn, and wife Haley; granddaughters, Emmagayle Rose Burns and Charlotte Mae Horn; and brothers, Henry Edmunds Coleman and J. Gordon Coleman.

Pallbearers will be John Horn, Andy Horn, Danny Ebarb, Tommy McCurry, Don Williams, Max Malone.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Scott McRight, Dr. Kirit Patel, Joyce Frank, Gwen Frank, the physicians and nursing staff of Willis-Knighton South and Pierremont Emergency departments and Willis-Knighton Pierremont ICU.
