On December 10, 1857, Daniel married Martha Jane "Mattie" Young in Robertson, Tennessee, he was 25 years old and she was 15 years old. In the span of 12 years, they had at least 7 children together: (1) Charles Eugenia Hines; (2) William Clay Hines; (3) Edward Caldwell Hines; (4) James Franklin Hines; (5) Richard Settle Hines; (6) Lula Maude Hines; (7) Daniel B. Hines.
Daniel was a doctor.
Daniel passed away from pneumonia at the age of 42 years old on January 12, 1874 in Logan, Kentucky.
