Lillian Earl Duncan, 94, of Duncan Lane, Afton, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at her residence, with her great-nephew and caregiver, Michael, by her side.

Born December 16, 1913, in Nellysford, a daughter of the late Robert L. Duncan and Rosa Hughes Duncan.

She retired from Waynesboro Dupont after 33 years of service and attended Mt. Ed Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Iva C. Duncan, Blanche Coffey, Elza Rittenhouse, Stella Rodes, Ada Rittenhouse, and Dorothy Iola Duncan; and her brothers, Virgil Duncan, Burgess Duncan, and James Duncan.

She is survived by her sister, Thena D. Bean of Afton; her great-nephew, Michael Rodes; and her niece, Rita Brent, her caring and dedicated caregivers over the years as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2008, at Adial Baptist Church in Faber, with the Reverend Ronald Nickell and the Reverend Michael Hevener, and Pat Chaffee officiating. Interment will follow in the Adial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Michael and Bill Rodes, Jimmy Duncan Jr., Alden Rodes, Jimmy Carter, and Bobby and Mac Rittenhouse.
