He was born October 13, 1955 in LaSalle, a son of David and Josephine (Balachowski) Meyer. He married Rosalind Phillips on June 19, 1982 at Immaculate Conception Church in Streator.
He is survived by his wife: Rosalind Meyer of Streator; a daughter: Jamie (Robert) Sharisky of Streator; a son: Joshua Meyer of Glen Ellyn; granddaughters: Faith and Lena Sharisky of Streator; sisters: Grace Snell of Meadview, Arizona and Susan Meyer of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers: Carl (Deborah) Meyer of Lake Carroll, Michael Meyer of Wasilla, Alaska and Peter Meyer of Spanish Fort, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Born and raised in LaSalle he attended local grade schools and graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in the class of 1973.
He worked through the years for A & H Engineering, Gus Newberg Engineering, Perini Engineering and was currently employed as a Sr. QV Inspector for Exelon Generation Company LLC at LaSalle Nuclear Power Plant.
Jim enjoyed fishing and hanging with his buddies at the Kangley Inn or at Jr's Bar in Grand Ridge. The apple of his eye was his family and especially his granddaughters. He would light up any time he was around them.
