Willie Frank Kutra was born November 16, 1933, in Sealy to parents Willie and Frances Sliva Kutra. He grew up in Frydek and attended St. Mary's Catholic School. When he started school, he spoke only Czech but gradually learned to speak the English language. He played baseball with the St. Mary's baseball team and was a boy scout in Troop No. 443 in Frydek. He later attended the Sealy public school system and graduated from Sealy High School in 1953. In 1955, he graduated with an associate degree from Blinn College in Brenham.

On May 6, 1956, Willie married the former Miss Deloris Hegemeyer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek. The couple moved to Sealy and he was employed as a surveyor for the A.S.C. office in Bellville. On June 20, 1956, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and spent 13 months in Germany. Upon his return to the United States, he continued to serve his country until June 2, 1958, when he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged from service on September 30, 1962. He was employed at Sealy Tractor & Implement Company selling parts and delivering equipment. He was also employed with the U.S. Postal Service, initially as a mail carrier and later as a window clerk. Eventually, he was promoted to the position of Postmaster in Wallis. He officially retired from the Postal Service on February 1, 2001.

From 1964 to 1978, Willie devoted 14 years of service to the Sealy Little League program. He was manager of the Braves baseball team during this time, winning the Little League Championship each year from 1973 through 1976. He also coached the Tigerettes girls softball team for a few years afterwards. He along with other dedicated volunteers maintained the Sealy B&PW Park for many years. He also spent a considerable amount of time playing in tournaments as a member of the Rebels softball team. He was also a dedicated member of the "Chain Gang" at all Sealy High School home football games for over 20 years.

Willie was considered a jack of all trades. He developed his exceptional cooking skills during his days in the army and was best known for his cornbread dressing he would make for family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. His other talents included carpentry, woodworking, refinishing antique furniture, equipment and auto mechanics, lawn maintenance and landscaping, all-around general repairs, and, most recently, reupholstery. He was an avid domino player and loved playing games of "42" with good friends. He liked watching old westerns, game shows, and sports on TV. He especially liked to watch his beloved Texas A&M Aggies on TV and in person at Kyle Field in College Station.

Willie was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy and was a member of the Catholic Union of Texas, KJT Sts. Cyril & Methodius Society 80. He was an honorary life member of Sealy Knights of Columbus, Father Crann Council 3313, serving as financial secretary and bar manager for many years. He was also a member of the Sealy Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly 2103 and served as faithful comptroller for many years.
