Shirley A. Bennett, 83, of Port Matilda, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Wynwood House of State College. Born on August 18, 1938, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Sadie (Eckles) Kelley. On November 24, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Port Matilda, she married the love of her life, Frederick L. Bennett, who preceded her in death on March 18, 2018, after sharing over 61 years of marriage together.

Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Port Matilda High School. She worked at the customer service desk and as a check out supervisor for K-Mart for over 25 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her seven children, Vickie Price, Patti Stimer (Rick), Keith Bennett (Jill), all of Port Matilda, Tina Meyers (Ron) of State College, Michael Bennett (Shawny) of Philipsburg, Bobbi Jo Robison (David) of Bellefonte, and Penny Seeger (Tom) of Julian; 14 grandchildren, Travis Price (Kristi), Danielle Cain (Justin), Gregg Stimer, Jenna Stimer (Shaun), Tye Bennett, Mallory Bennett, Ryan Meyers (Cyndi), MaKealy Meyers, Kody Bennett, Kolby Bennett (Kala), Courtney Robison, Hunter Robison, Shane Seeger, and Mia Seeger; and 11 great grandchildren, Brynn, Braylon, Adison, Coley, Tanner, Hayden, Hadley, Rylie, Jesse, Barrett, and Magnolia.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Kelley, and one son-in-law, Michael Price.

Shirley was a member of the Port Matilda Methodist Church. She loved cooking for the numerous family dinners that were shared over the years and was especially well known for her delicious homemade pies that she would bake. She enjoyed spending time on her porch swing, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and playing cards. She looked forward to attending her grandchildren's sporting events and being their #1 cheerleader. More than anything, she loved the time that was spent with her family, and will be remembered for the devoted wife, caring mother, and adoring grandmother that she was.

There will be a public viewing held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 10am-noon, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Sam Reese officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Port Matilda Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Wynwood House of State College and 365 Hospice for the compassionate care that they provided for their mother and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to the Worth Township Class Reunion, 3334 Pamela Circle, State College, PA 16801.
