Hackney moved to the Ft. Worth area in 1956 nd to Springtown in 1969. He was a member of the Springtown Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife Lerah of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and George Smith, Springtown, Texas; two granddaughters, one grandson, five great-grandchildren, two brothers and their wives, Mervyn and Koleata Hackney, Piedmont; and Ray and Martha Hackney, Hobart; and one sister and husband, Geneva and Earl Bagley, Placerville, California.
Services were September 7, 2004 at Springtown Baptist Temple,, Springtown, Texas with Rev. Luther White officiating. Graveside burial was September 8, 2004 at Roosevelt Cemetery, under direction of Jack Loftiss Funeral Home, Cordell.
