Kathleen Mary Brown, 73, passed peacefully at home October 6, 2021, with her sisters and best friend nearby.

Kathy led an extraordinary life and positively influenced many people. Born in Geneva, New York, she moved with her parents, Richard and Madeline Healy and younger sister Janet, to Fairbanks, Alaska, when she was five. Three more Alaska-born sisters, Connie, Patty, and Irene, joined the family. Following Alaska statehood, they moved to San Jose, California.

Always independent in her outlook, Kathy moved to Washington State in the 1970s, where she owned a grocery store/gas station at a mountain pass. There she operated a tow truck for years, rescuing many vehicles from snowy ditches. Kathy also raised several St. Bernard dogs there.

After selling the business, she returned to California, keeping the books for Fjord's, the family's restaurant in Ukiah. A few years later, she was hired by the California Employment Development Department. After 27 years serving as what her staff called "a great manager" she retired.

During the last 20 years, Kathy raised and showed bloodhounds winning many Best-In-Show and Best-Of-Breed ribbons. Her dogs Molly and Bo survive and miss her.

Kathy lived in Olivehurst, California, since 2013, creating a true and close community with neighbors who became her best friends. "Kathy was always the light in someone's darkness," said one and "She was amazing, I've never met anyone like her!" commented another.

Kathy is survived by her son, Patrick Hatcher; and granddaughter, Morganne; plus her sisters, Irene (Frankie) Rodriguez, Janet Healy, and Patricia (Mark) Pittman; and many loving nieces and nephews; their children; her aunt, Agnes Daugherty; and by her cousins.

She is at rest at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst.
