William Tolliver "Bill" Burgess, Sr. (1941-2021) entered heaven on Sunday, October 24th with the person he loved the most at his side, his wife of nearly 50 years. Bill was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, and moved to Pensacola, FL in the late 1950s. On December 4, 1971, he and his beloved wife, Patsy, were married at Hillcrest Baptist Church. They served the Lord faithfully together at Hillcrest for over 4 decades. He worked for Monsanto as an Instrument Mechanic for more than 20 years, until his medical retirement in 1990, due to Retinitis Pigmentosa. Bill made an impact on the lives of many young men as a coach for T-ball (YMCA) and Softball (Hillcrest) for more than a decade and as a leader in Royal Ambassadors at Hillcrest. He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. Burgess, Jr. and Vera R. Burgess; sister, Mildred Burgess, and brother, Howard Burgess. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons Billy (Tammy) and Bobby (Charity); twin sister, Nita Heigert; seven grandchildren that he loved incredibly, Shelby, Amberly, Wesley, Brantley, Charley Jane, Logan, and Andy; and his niece and nephews, Mike (Karen), Paul (Lisa), Stan (Robyn), and LeAnn (Don). A celebration of life will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 27th at 2:00pm. Visitation will be immediately preceding the service at 1:00pm.
