Played for the Cincinnati Reds, Brooklyn Robins & the Boston Braves.

Richard played second base with the Cincinnati Reds for eight years after learning to play baseball with Polytechnic High in San Francisco.

His big league career began in 1905 and in 1914 he went to Brooklyn Robins as a utility infielder. In 1915 his contract was purchased by the Boston Braves, playing in 22 games that season, and 55 in 1916. The next year he became a holdout and returned to his ranch in Conn Valley, CA.
