Donald Walker
April 24, 1934-Oct. 15, 2021
On Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, Don Walker passed away peacefully at the age of 87.
Don was born in Nallen, W. Va., to John and Ella Walker. He joined the USAF and earned his Bachelor of Science (with Honors) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming. He served for 22 years as a pilot, including deployment in Vietnam flying B52s.
Don met and married Molly Barnes while stationed in England. They married Oct. 31, 1959. They raised three children, Keith, Jamie, and Lee, while traveling the world and the USA. Upon retirement, Don and Molly settled in Tigard, Ore., where Don began his second career as a real estate agent. He was also a proud and active member of the Lions Club, fully embracing their motto, "We Serve."
Don loved the beauty of his adopted home, Oregon. He was a great historian and tour guide to visiting family and friends. Don was a humble and gracious man, a fierce believer in equal rights for all, treating those he encountered with kindness and compassion. Don embodied The Golden Rule. He is the standard by which his children measure all others.
Towards the end of Don's life, he lived bravely with Parkinson's and Lewy Body, humbling diseases. His caregivers all loved Don. He showed them kindness, caring, and gratitude. Don's children are forever grateful for their tireless support and compassion.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Molly; and his parents, John "JC" and Ella. He is survived by his sister, Helen; nieces, Nancy and Cindy; his children, Keith (Lisa), Jamie (Alison), and Lee (Laurie); and grandchildren, Audrey, Elliott, Jude, and Beck.
Don's ashes will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. (www.michaeljfox.org)
