Lewis Thomas Rogers, better known as Buckie Rogers, was born May 17, 1943 to Emma and James Rogers in Salina, OK. Surrounded by his loving family at his home in Salina, he departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2021, at the age of 78. Buckie was known to be a loving and caring husband, dad, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor. He was an imaginative story teller than never knew a stranger. He was a Christian who loved to study and share the Word. In his younger days, he loved fishing, hunting and camping. Later, he enjoyed picking pecans, gardening, mowing and helping neighbors. He also loved his pets deeply and rescued many animals. He was an avid OU Sooners football and softball fan and rooted for the KC Chiefs. You would also find him watching his favorite westerns and playing Solitaire and Phase 10.
Graveside services for Buckie will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 in the Ross – Mayes Cemetery in Salina with Reverend Jason Jackson officiating. Casket bearers will be Darrell Johnson, Brody Johnson, Jimmy Rogers, Carl Fleming, Jeff Taylor, Glen Turner, Lyn Turner, Shane Turner and Michael Willhoite.
Buckie is survived by: wife, Darlene Rogers, daughter, Lyn and husband Mike Willhoite, two grandchildren, Kathryn and Michael Willhoite and wife Blair; sister, Janie Fleming and brother, Johnny Rogers and wife Joyie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by: his parents; 6 sisters: Lenora, Margie, Wilda, Maxine, Billie and Roberta; and 1 brother: James Rogers.
