Kay was born on July 13, 1924 to Claude and Sarah Spaugh in Lewisville , NC. Raised during the depression, she became a strong and independent woman who overcame many obstacles in life. She lived most of her life in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA where she was married to Egbert "Mac" Maxwell, raised two children and started a successful decorating business. Kay was known for her love of gardening, her sense of style, her love of Miniature Schnauzers, and for always being a lady.
Kay is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Egbert "Mac" Maxwell, and her companion of 38 years, Arthur Murphy. Kay is also preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Spaugh and Charles Spaugh, and her sisters, Marjorie Moore, Claudine Zuccato and Mary Wheeler.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Jackie Stromberg, her son, George Maxwell (Marilyn Sue), her grandchildren, Susan (James Lee), Kenneth (Lisa) , Chad (Vicki) and 2 granddaughters Stephanie (Matt Koch) and Joselyn (Joshua Crosby).
Kay received loving care over the last several years at Laguna Honda Hospital. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the Laguna Honda Gift Fund, Palliative Care, (https://paydirect.link2gov.com/SFLagunaHonda/ItemSelection/SelectItems).

Gravesite Details
Kay is not buried at Woodlawn. She died in Calif after being moved there to be in her daughters care. Unknown if her daughter even knows of the plot already purchased.
