Russell Alan Hawkins, age 70, of Marengo, passed away Monday, 18 October 2021, at Unity Point St Luke's, Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held at Kostza Cemetery, rural Marengo. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Russell is survived by Doris K; 3 children, Craig (Angela) Hawkins, of Marengo; Cody (Sara) Hawkins, of Wellman; & Julie (Melissa) Hawkins of Marengo; 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Steven, Kaleb, Gracie & Megan; a sister, Rosemary K (Roger) Marquardt, of Kostza; his 3 girls (his labs), Marley, Bella & Bailey; & numerous nieces & nephews, cousins & friends. He is preceded in death by his parents & 3 brothers, Rollin, Robert & Roger.
Russell was born 19 Jan 1951 in Iowa City, the son of Robert & Lorna May (Shaull) Hawkins, He attended the Kostza Country School and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1969. Russell was united in marriage to Doris K. VanBlaricom on 30 July 1971. Through the years he worked at Amana Whirlpool, Swift Feeds & Sullivan Graphics. After retirement, he enjoyed mowing lawns. Russell was an avid Iowa Hawkeye & NASCAR fan. He liked to go on rides through the country side, camping & fishing. Russell never knew a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a jokester.
