Margaret M. Burke, 97, of Springfield, died at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.

Margaret was born on October 18, 1924 in Springfield, the daughter of August and Mary Bansbach Kloppenburg. She married John J. Burke on November 12, 1949 at St. Peter & Paul; he preceded her in death on March 9, 2003.

Margaret was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She worked for IL Bell, B & M Electric, and later for the State of IL, Department of Public Health. Margaret was a member of St. Joseph's Church.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judi Burke; parents; and three brothers, Lawrence, Harold and Charles Kloppenburg.

She is survived by three daughters, Kitsy (husband, Pete) Bryant, Mary (husband, Gary) Faxon, and Joanie (husband, Mike) Gaffney, all of Springfield; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Joseph's Church, 1345 North 6th St., with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
