She was born on December 7, 1935 in Lafayette, IN to the late James L. and Bertha E. (Justice) Holsclaw. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School. On December 10, 1952, she married James Robert "Buck" Frier Sr in Lafayette and they were married 23 years. James preceded her in death on September 23, 1975. She then married Frank L. Armes on July 18, 1978 in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2012. Marquita worked alongside Frank as a truck driver for 10 years.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers, watching Days of Our Lives, Naked and Afraid and My 600 lb Life. Marquita also like to watch Tony Stewart and NASCAR and enjoyed all sports. In her teenage years, she would go to WASK Radio Station and sing and dedicate "You are my Sunshine" to Buck. Above all, Marquita loved and cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by five children; two stepsons; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and four siblings.
Along with her husbands and her parents, Marquita was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Oswalt; three brothers - Richard Holsclaw, Harold Richardson and Jim Holsclaw; a son-in-law, Dave Price; and granddaughter, Holly Frier.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Joe Park Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Cemetery.
