Kim M. Smith, 63 of Charlotte, NC passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Kim was born June 28, 1958 in Alhambra, CA to Duane and Janet (Jewell) Cross. She married Dan Smith on September 3, 1983 in Fountain Hills, AZ and he preceded her in death.
Kim was a loving mother, sister, aunt, devoted wife, amazing caregiver and loyal friend. She was an accomplished floral designer and loved crafting, scrapbooking, jewelry making, wreath making and bird watching. She enjoyed visiting the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont, NC, visiting the Meadows of Dan, VA on the Blue Ridge Parkway, attending live music concerts and going to festivals and wine tasting events with her friends. Kim also collected Southwestern artifacts and silver spoons.
Kim is survived by her daughter Stephanie Smith of Charlotte, NC, father Duane Cross of Pontiac, MI, sisters Sheri Cross of New York, Bev Cross of Pontiac, MI, Berdie Cross of Fort Myers, FL, nieces Olivia, Harmony, Elizabeth, Amanda, Nicole, Jocelyn, Leslie; nephews Matt and Chris; mother-in-law Edith Smith, sisters-in-law Sherry (Meda) Smith, Susan (Rob) McMahan, brother-in-law David (Mary Jo) Smith, a beloved bearded dragon named Maxamillion and many other cherished family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter Erica Nicole, mother Janet, brother Craig Cross, grandmothers Jean (Nana) Zietek, Hazel Spencer and beloved cats Tabitha and Kassie.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on October 20, 2021 at Virden Cemetery with Sherry Smith officiating.
